The World Cup is almost here.
The US kicks off its latest quest for international respect with an intriguing opening game: Saturday, June 12, against England.
To celebrate — and introduce a new generation of Westport players to the world’s most exciting sporting event — the Westport Soccer Association is organizing a special live viewing in the Staples High School auditorium — on a 20 by 15-foot screen. The match begins at 2:30 p.m.; doors open at 1:30.
Registration is limited to the 1st 800 people. To get your free ticket, go to www.westportsoccer.org.
The state champion boys varsity team will be there to meet young players. There will also be t-shirts, refreshments, and raffles.
Admission is limited to the 1st 800 Westport residents who register (details coming soon). In the meantime: mark your calendar, and get your US gear!
(The event is co-sponsored by the Westport Soccer Association, Mickey Kydes Soccer Enterprises and the Gudis Family Foundation. For more information, email: email@example.com.)
